I Love This Little Devotional

So I got this little devotional called Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing by Sally Lloyd-Jones with illustrations by Jago.

It's a really beautiful book. Inside are little thoughts/poems with a little Bible verse about a certain subject or idea like this:


I think what I love about it is that it is so simple and so grace filled. Its all about God's love and that doesn't mean it glosses over hard things like sin and our fallen world, but it focuses on God's grace. The illustrations are really really beautiful.

Also it takes about 30 seconds to read and so I read it in the morning or right before I go to bed and then it leaves you with a little thought for your day.

Its simplicity also highlights that you don't always need to have a full on prayer time or Bible reading time or talk to God in a super fancy way, but rather, you can just talk to Him like a child. Matthew 18:3 says "And he said: 'Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.' "
